MPI (Magnetic Particle Inspection) is a non-destructive testing process used to detect subsurface flaws in ferromagnetic materials. Through the use of a yoke, which forms a magnetic field, and the application of some ferrous particles between the prongs of the yoke, subsurface discontinuities can be identified.
